Thought I had survived the mountains with no ill effects. Then I woke up this morning with my hair standing on end. Yikes!
Day started cool in the 70's but hit mid-90's by afternoon. But so much more temperate than doing the I-70 route. For Joyce it was a cloud photo kind of day...
Check out Joyce's sky fish!
We saw some cool rock formations...
Found the light at the end of the tunnel...
And construction workers building a "tunnel"..
In Wendover, we bid goodbye to Nevada and Pacific time. Thanks, waving cowboy!
An amazing surprise was just over the border -- the Bonneville Salt Flats!
All of a sudden it looked like we were back in Wisconsin winter...
It looked like snow...
And went on and on for miles!
Are those snowdrifts?
It was so bright with the white salt that it caused optical illusions in the sunny heat - these mountains appeared to us to be floating in the air.Check out the salt deposits built up on those posts...
We even drove by a Morton Salt processing factory in action.
Arrived in Salt Lake City about 4:15. Drove past the Great Salt Lake.
After checking into the hotel, we toured a bit in downtown Salt Lake City.
Supper was meant to be at a sit-down place, but that didn't work out. Ended up at KFC - that won't happen again on this trip...
We are now over 4000 miles on the trip. Tomorrow our goal is to get through Wyoming into Nebraska!
Blessings to all!
